I enjoyed about 50% of the 'things', but have to admit that the other half was useful to learn (or refresh) about. My favourites were LibraryThing, information on ITUNES/PODCASTS, and Flicker.
I would participate in something similar in future, but it would have to be topics of my choosing. I've been exposed to much of this already, so it was a bit repetetive. If we had the opportunity again I'd really like to spend my time zeroing in on things I really want to know more about, or understand for the very first time; my time would be much better spent.
Thanks so much!

14 Wikis
I think the idea is a good one, but for practical purposes I found it to be very cumbersome and time consuming. I was in a group project that required the use of a wiki...each time I went in,,,I had to re-read everything,,,there didn't seem to be much order to the information, unless someone took it upon themselves to organize the information in such a way that new posts and old posts were distinguished. As a form of communication,,,I'd rather meet in person....I don't like the idea that someone can go in and change my post (even though they're a member of the group)...not to reassuring.
22 Locating Podcasts
I liked this one a lot. I found this whole itune/ipod/mp3 thing a bit mystery....just left it to my kids to figure out....but now I get it...I think...at least for the most part. Now I want an MP3...maybe I'll win one!
19 Databases
Academic Search Elite is something I've used in the past. It wouldn't be much use to people if they weren't familiar with boolean searching, and didn't have a lot of patience. The search tools for most databases could be greatly improved. They have been invaluable for some projects I've done; saved a lot of leg work.
I liked 'next reads', I've been a member for a while,,,,but sometimes the book suggestions are older than I'd expected....I thought for the most part they'd be new releases but not necessarily.,,,,great idea though. Again, I don't think most patrons know about it, but if they did, they'd really enjoy it.

Web 2.0 Libraries 2.0
There was a lot of great ideas in all the reading, some I've heard before but some I read for the first time. The problem will come when trying to educate the public. We have databases now that most people know absolutely nothing about; even regular users of the library. Libraries need to be technologically advanced, but in order to remain relevent they have to spend an equal amount of time on the actual people it serves...and I think thats where we are lacking.....customer service and relations has to rank higher than it does now.

12 Social Networking
I set myself on Faceboook a long time ago, but I forgot all about it. Now that I've gone back in, my high school reunion group has grown and its nice to see and hear from some old friends again. I don't think I would be an ongoing user of Facebook though....it just takes up too much time.....but I'm glad to know what everyone is talking about.

Audiobooks and eBooks
I like the concept....but I found the selection a bit odd. I wasn't able to select anything (although I went through the steps in the process) because the software would have had to be downloaded and I don't believe we're permitted to do that on these library computers. (I've asked David to see what he can do at the info. desk)
It will be interesting to see how this will compare with the Kindle in coming years.
All in all I think the process is a bit too cumbersome for someone doing it every once in a while...but like anything else....it will get fine tuned eventually.

Technorati #11
Technorati has been one I've been wondering about...and now that I'm a bit familiar with it, I don't think I would use it (at this time). Since its basically a blog finder...I'm not usually interested in what other people have to say about things I like to read about......I'd have to do some research on who exactly is writing the blog, and know something of their credentials.
If there was some topic that I wanted to use this for, I'd definately use the 'watch list' function....otherwise there's just too much information to filter through.

YouTube
The only time watching TV ever gave me goosebumps.

Ask Away
I'd used this resource before....using West Van. Memorial, VPL and Langara College. It worked really well although some responses were better than others,...some read my question more carefully than others....I'd given them all the same question...having to do with work place fatalities and Canadian statistics.

Microsoft Office 2007
Quite frankly, I would avoid using this application (at home)at all cost. I find it very confusing probably because I'm so used to the original 'Word' in particular. I don't know if its been fixed or not, but I understand that when transferring documents to computers that don't have the updated product, opening documents is very difficult to do, unless you download another Microsoft product that translates the information. Microsoft's publicity on this new product has been less than stellar, so I'd imagine they've fixed a lot of the original glitches.

Organize meetings with Outlook
Just completed this one, number 17.
I don't get invited to many meetings, so I probably won't be using this function. I can see how it would work well in a larger organization than ours. Although I did use it from time to time in my last job.

Delicious
Took a look around the site, and even opened my own account. Think it will be very handy for special projects....maybe planning a trip, recipe file, that sort of thing. I think it would be an improvement to make the site a little less 'busy' looking....maybe in time. A fine discovery it was!!

RSS feeds
I think a lot more time needs to go into perfecting what someone wants in their RSS feeds. I chose ones I thought I'd be interested in,,,,but still find myself scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. Since blogs, websites, etc are constantly changing, I don't think someone should depend on their favourites for the latest, greatest feeds they've traditionally enjoyed.......there always seems to be something better out there.......but maybe I'm missing something.
